Rei describes the universal boundless aspects of this energy.
ki stands for 'life energy'.

The effects of Reiki on the emotions can be profound, freeing emotional blocks and suppressed feelings.
This can lead to transformation of negativity into positive feelings, or allow the disposal of outdated emotional 'baggage'.
During Reiki the mind is relaxed, yet alert. As a result thinking processes are often
clearer. The more you use Reiki, the stronger the development of your senses of self-
Many conditions can respond to Reiki, especially those exacerbated by stress.
Emotional problems such as anxiety and depression also seem to enjoy some benefit.
Until relatively recently these claims were all anecdotal but now more research is being carried out looking at the way Reiki can contribute towards health and wholeness.
Recent research shows that Reiki reduces heart rate and diastolic blood pressure. The study indicated that Reiki has some effect on the autonomic nervous system and that further larger studies on the biological effects of Reiki should be undertaken.

This Universal Life Force is infinite, flowing without ending. It is the energy of the entire cosmos, the vital energy that feeds all life. It may be considered as Unconditional Love.
We all receive energy via the food we eat and drink, through sleep, exercise, relaxation and by being in harmony and balance emotionally and spiritually. For instance, admiring the beauty and intricacies of Nature boosts the energy reserves.
Reiki helps to amplify that energy, balancing and harmonising it for the highest good of the individual.
It supports our inner harmony, the source of our well-
Reiki flows where energy is needed for healing, and seems able to adjust itself to suit the requirements of the recipient at that time.
During a Reiki healing session, the channelling of this Universal Life Energy takes place through the laying on of hands onto oneself or another's body.
When treating others, the places the hands rest upon are the head, body, legs and feet.

Although based on Buddhist practices (Mikao Usui was a Tendai Buddhist), Reiki as used today has no specific connection with any religion, cult, dogma, or special belief system. It does not involve hypnosis or massage.
Reiki can be used not only on people, but also on animals and plants.

In order to enjoy it.
But you will have to
take a bite first.'
